A1 LICENCE
At 17 to 19 years old, all training and tests are performed on a 125cc motorcycle. On completion of the test you are then restricted to a 125cc for two years and will have to take further tests to go onto a larger bike.
A2 LICENCE
At 19 to 21 years old, all training and tests are performed on a motorcycle of at least 245c, between 25kw to 35kw (33 to 46.6 bhp). On completion of the tests you are restricted to a bike of between the stated kw/bhp for two years and will then have to take further tests to ride a bike with unrestricted power.
A LICENCE
At 21 to 23 years old if you have held an A2 licence for at least two years, you can take further training and tests on a larger motorcycle of at least 595cc (40kw). On completion of this test, you can ride bikes of any size.
Any of the above licences can be taken if you are older than the minimum ages stated.

MODULE ONE
Your Module 1 test consists of the following :-
- Ride into a box marked by cones, switch off and dismount
- Push to reverse the bike into an adjacent box marked by cones
- Ride the bike through a slalom of cones in a controlled manner Complete 2 full figure of 8s
- Ride slowly and in control with the examiner at walking pace
- Carry out a U-turn safely
- Ride the bike round a set circuit and carry out a Controlled Stop Ride the bike round a set circuit and carry out an emergency stop at a minimum speed of 50KPH
- Ride the bike round a set circuit and avoid an obstacle at a minimum speed of 50KPH
MODULE TWO
Your Module 2 test consists of the following:-
Once your documents have been checked, you will be asked to read a vehicle registration plate at approximately 20.5 metres (67 feet)
You will be asked some questions about vehicle maintenance and a question related to carrying a pillion or luggage
You will then complete a road ride of approximately 30 minutes covering a variety of road and traffic conditions and will also include normal stops, hill and angle starts
